Tyce Markussen – Prayer Service

Most of you have heard the sad news that one of Auntie Em’s Angels’ Warriors passed away yesterday (Tuesday, May 22, 2012).  I was so honored to be a part of his life for the short time that I got to meet him and learn about his life through his friends.  I didn’t know Tyce well but I will never forget him as long as I live.  He changed me in the few short weeks after I met him personally at his benefit on April 28th.  He was in a fragile and hurting body and he gave me a warm embrace thanking me for everything.  To top it off he even stayed for an hour longer then he planned and gave a heart felt speech thanking everyone for their love and support.  We will never know what Tyce was feeling at that moment or the thoughts going through his head that night but he expressed to all of us he knew it could be the last time he would speak to most of us.  Tyce left behind his sweet daughter Alivia who he loved with all his heart.  Please see below the message from Alivia’s Mom Julia.  We love you Tyce and we will never forget you!

Sincerely,

Emily Pottebaum

As many of you know, Tyce lost his 8-month battle with cancer and passed away peacefully Tuesday morning. We cannot begin to express our appreciation for the outpour of love and support we have received throughout this entire ordeal. As I’ve said many times, it’s been an incredibly humbling experience. Alivia is doing as well as can be expected, and has a wonderful last memory she shared with Tyce. We saw him Monday night after her soccer game, and he woke up long enough to hear about the goal she had scored, and found the strength to raise his arm from his elbow to give her one last “high five.” He loved her with all he had, and will remain with her always.

Many of you have asked about services – a prayer service is scheduled for Tuesday evening (May 29, 2012) at 7:00 pm at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral. There will also be a celebration of life ceremony in the middle of June with details to follow. I know that I have missed some people on here, so please feel free to pass this along.

We can’t thank you all enough, or express how much each of you means to us. There is no way we would have come this far without each of you playing some role in our lives. Thank you. We love you all!

Julia

“God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, nor sun without rain, but he did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.”

If any of you have any words  for the family or stories to tell about Tyce please leave them in the comments below.
